I am so happy to have made it through the first full week of my DTS!!! It was such an amazing week of hearing from so many wonderful speakers and really getting to know everyone in my cohort and around campus. We officially have everyone in my cohort here now in Townsville!
This past week was all about really intentionally seeking the Lord for me, knowing that He is doing the same towards me as well. Great lectures allowed for great conversations with others which allowed me to really tune into the Lord when alone with Him.
I also had more opportunities to explore Townsville, find rhythm for myself in such a new place, and just feel much more settled and comfortable, knowing my way around a little more and finding ways to really connect with people.
I am honestly really enjoying myself and where I am. Many others in my cohort have said this too, but it feels as if we have all been here much longer than a week and a half! Excited for what’s ahead!!
Highlights!!!
I finally tried Tim Tams and they were soooo good!!
There have been so many opportunities to pray and worship alongside others - with the whole campus to even just a few people - and it’s been so fruitful to experience!
Family fun day! During the afternoon on Friday, the entire YWAM family here spent some time on the ropes course at the youth precinct! It was such a good time of talking more with people, trying new things, playing games, and eating pizza!!! 🍕😋🍕😋🍕😋
One of the families on campus hosted a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning - so fun and so yummy!!!
I made it to the beach!!! The beach is about a 15-minute walk from campus and I was able to spend some time there on Saturday swimming with others! I’m looking forward to going more, it was so beautiful!! Bonus: I did not get sunburned!!
They have a small library room here and I’ve enjoyed spending quiet time in there (with the AC on of course!)
Went to church again with more friends!
My time with little Ariah has gotten better! It is still a little challenging to connect with her since she is so young and shy, but we have had some really good days of playing together and I think I’m getting more familiar to her now!
I started school visits! Once a week, I will be going to a local secondary school during their break to simply play and connect with the kids. The first time was really fun!!
I learned how to play handball here! At the school, the kids taught me how to play handball - it’s similar to four square with slightly different rules and a smaller ball (kind of like a lacrosse ball). I am not very good at it, yet!
Praying for a great week for everyone!!
Hugs!!
Annika
The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26
